📝 Job Overview

The Business Development Coordinator (BDC) will lead institutional fundraising, donor engagement, and proposal development at country level.

This role ensures CBM Global Kenya is donor-ready, strategically positioned, and competitive in securing funding aligned with its mission. The position plays a key role in pipeline development, consortium building, and grant coordination within an international NGO environment.


🔑 Key Responsibilities

1. Business Development Leadership

  • Lead institutional fundraising and business development strategy
  • Manage funding pipeline development from opportunity identification to submission
  • Coordinate quarterly and annual business development planning

2. Donor Engagement & Intelligence

  • Map and analyse donor landscapes (EU, UN, FCDO, DFAT, foundations)
  • Build relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders
  • Represent CBM Global in donor meetings and coordination platforms
  • Prepare donor briefs, pitch decks, and capability statements

3. Proposal & Consortium Development

  • Lead development of concept notes and funding proposals
  • Coordinate with programme, finance, and technical teams
  • Facilitate consortium partnerships with NGOs, OPDs, and UN agencies
  • Ensure proposals are high-quality, compliant, and competitive

4. Internal Coordination & Capacity Building

  • Act as a bridge between programme, MEL, finance, and advocacy teams
  • Strengthen internal capacity in grant management and donor engagement
  • Organise learning sessions and cross-team collaboration

5. Systems & Knowledge Management

  • Maintain donor and pipeline data in Global Online systems
  • Improve processes using digital tools and AI-enabled solutions
  • Contribute to institutional funding strategy and learning initiatives

6. Safeguarding & Values

  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards and safeguarding policies
  • Promote inclusive, partnership-driven approaches in all engagements

👤 Eligibility & Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 7+ years in business development, fundraising, or programme development
  • Proven success in institutional donor proposal writing and grant acquisition
  • Experience working with international NGOs or humanitarian organisations
  • Familiarity with donor-funded projects and consortium approaches

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with EU, UN agencies, FCDO, DFAT, or major donors
  • Background in disability inclusion or rights-based programming
  • Experience working with OPDs or civil society organisations

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong proposal writing and communication skills
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation abilities
  • Advanced analytical and donor intelligence skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Strong team collaboration and cultural sensitivity

Education

  • Master’s degree in International Development, Business, or related field
  • Equivalent professional experience considered

Languages

  • Fluent English (required)
  • Additional regional languages (advantage)
