Job Overview

Safaricom is looking for a detail-oriented Financial Accountant – Regional Operations to join its finance team in Nakuru. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial reporting, maintaining accurate accounting records, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and company financial policies.

This role plays a critical part in supporting the organization’s financial planning and operational decision-making processes. The Financial Accountant will work closely with finance managers and regional leadership to ensure efficient financial management and transparent reporting practices.

The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, solid knowledge of accounting standards, and the ability to manage financial operations in a fast-paced corporate environment.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and journal entries

Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations

Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes

Support budget preparation and financial forecasting activities

Ensure compliance with tax regulations and financial reporting standards

Conduct financial analysis and variance reporting

Assist in internal and external audit processes

Monitor cash flow management and expense tracking

Implement and maintain internal financial controls

Required Skills and Competencies

Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and IFRS standards

Experience with ERP accounting systems and financial software

Excellent analytical and financial reporting abilities

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to interpret financial data and business performance metrics
