Job Overview

Hexagon Geospatial Kenya Limited is seeking a dynamic Geospatial Applications Engineer to join our Kisii-based team. This role will focus on designing and implementing geospatial tools to support urban planning initiatives, environmental monitoring, and infrastructure development across western Kenya. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise in GIS software with a passion for sustainable development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain geospatial applications for urban planning and environmental analysis
  • Integrate satellite imagery and sensor data into actionable insights for local governments
  • Collaborate with urban planners to create 3D city models and spatial datasets
  • Train local stakeholders on geospatial software tools and data interpretation
  • Conduct field surveys to validate geospatial data accuracy

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in ArcGIS, QGIS, and remote sensing software
  • Experience with Python scripting for geospatial automation
  • Strong analytical skills for spatial data interpretation
  • Knowledge of urban planning principles and land use policies
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-departmental collaboration

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Geospatial Technology, Geography, Urban Planning, or related field. Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience

3-5 years of experience in geospatial applications development, preferably in urban planning or environmental monitoring contexts.

Salary

KES 120,000 – KES 180,000 per month, commensurate with experience.
