Job Overview
The Sustainability Analyst will support KenGen’s ESG strategy by collecting, analyzing, and reporting environmental data, assessing carbon footprints, and recommending improvement measures. Key Responsibilities
- Gather and validate data on energy production, emissions, water usage, and waste management across all KenGen facilities.
- Conduct carbon accounting and develop greenhouse gas inventories in line with ISO 14064 and GHG Protocol.
- Prepare quarterly and annual sustainability reports for internal stakeholders and external regulators.
- Support the integration of ESG criteria into new project feasibility studies and capital investment decisions.
- Monitor compliance with Kenyan environmental regulations and international sustainability frameworks.
- Collaborate with the Communications team to produce ESG content for corporate websites, press releases, and stakeholder newsletters.
- Identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and recommend actionable initiatives.
- Assist in the development of sustainability KPIs and dashboards for senior management.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or similar data visualization tools.
- Knowledge of ESG reporting standards such as GRI, SASB, and CDP.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting reports and presenting findings.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with Kenyan environmental legislation and renewable energy sector dynamics.
- Attention to detail and a proactive problem‑solving mindset.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as LEED, GRI Standards, or a Chartered Environmentalist qualification are advantageous but not mandatory.
Experience
Applicants should have 2‑4 years of relevant experience in sustainability analysis, ESG reporting, or environmental management, preferably within the energy sector or a comparable industry. Experience with data management systems and stakeholder engagement will be highly valued.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 150,000 to 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances may be provided in line with KenGen’s compensation policy.
