Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Packaging Sustainability Specialist to lead our sustainable packaging initiatives in Nairobi, Kenya. In this role, you will design, test, and implement eco-friendly packaging materials that align with our global sustainability targets. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the research and implementation of sustainable packaging materials, including lightweighting glass and biodegradable plastics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure packaging designs meet quality and safety standards.
  • Conduct life cycle assessments (LCAs) on packaging materials to quantify environmental impacts.
  • Manage relationships with packaging suppliers to source innovative, cost-effective materials.
  • Monitor and report on progress against EABL’s packaging sustainability targets.

Required Skills

  • Technical knowledge of packaging materials (glass, plastics, paperboard) and manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in conducting Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs).
  • Strong project management and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate environmental data into business strategies.
  • Familiarity with East African environmental regulations.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science is required.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in packaging development or sustainability roles, preferably within the FMCG or beverage industry.
