Job Overview
The Cloud Solutions Architect will design, implement, and optimize cloud‑based architectures for IBM’s diverse client portfolio in Kenya and the broader East African region. This role requires a deep understanding of hybrid cloud environments, enterprise integration patterns, and emerging technologies such as Kubernetes, serverless computing, and AI‑enabled services. The architect will work closely with sales, consulting, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and cost‑effective cloud solutions, ensuring alignment with IBM’s standards and best practices. Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with clients to assess current IT landscapes and define cloud migration roadmaps.
- Design end‑to‑end cloud architectures that incorporate IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS components.
- Lead proof‑of‑concept initiatives and pilot projects to demonstrate solution viability.
- Develop detailed technical specifications, reference architectures, and implementation guides.
- Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and performance standards specific to Kenyan regulations.
- Provide technical leadership during implementation, guiding engineering teams and overseeing integration efforts.
- Conduct workshops and training sessions for client IT staff on cloud best practices.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging cloud services, and competitor offerings to maintain IBM’s market leadership.
Required Skills
- Extensive experience with IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud platforms.
- Proficiency in containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and micro‑services architecture.
- Strong knowledge of networking, security protocols, and identity management.
- Hands‑on experience with infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and a customer‑centric mindset.
- Effective communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Certification such as IBM Certified Solution Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or equivalent.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Advanced degrees or specialized cloud certifications are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five to seven years of professional experience designing and delivering enterprise cloud solutions. Prior experience in consulting or a systems integrator environment, especially within the East African market, will be viewed favorably.
Salary
