Job Overview
Arup Kenya seeks a Smart City Solutions Architect to lead the design and implementation of integrated urban development projects in Nyeri. This role will focus on creating sustainable, technology-enabled city frameworks that improve quality of life while addressing environmental and social challenges. Key Responsibilities
- Develop smart city masterplans integrating IoT, AI, and renewable energy systems
- Collaborate with municipal authorities, tech providers, and community stakeholders
- Design data-driven urban mobility and waste management solutions
- Conduct feasibility studies for smart infrastructure projects
- Prepare technical documentation and project proposals
Required Skills
- Expertise in urban planning software (ArcGIS, AutoCAD, CityEngine)
- Knowledge of smart grid technologies and digital twin systems
- Experience with public-private partnership frameworks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Fluency in stakeholder engagement and cross-cultural communication
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Engineering, or Smart Infrastructure
- Master’s degree preferred (Urban Sustainability, Digital Architecture)
Experience
- 3-5 years in urban development or smart city projects
- Proven track record in municipal infrastructure planning
- Experience with Kenyan urban policy frameworks
Salary
250,000 – 350,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience.
