Job Overview
The Industrial Robotics Engineer will design, develop, and integrate advanced robotic systems for Siemens’ manufacturing clients in Kenya and the broader East African region. The role involves collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver turnkey automation solutions that improve productivity, safety, and sustainability. You will be responsible for the full project lifecycle—from concept and feasibility studies to implementation, testing, and after‑sales support. This position plays a critical part in Siemens’ mission to accelerate Industry 4.0 adoption across Kenya, delivering high‑impact solutions that drive economic growth and job creation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop robotic cell layouts, end‑effectors, and control architectures tailored to client specifications.
- Conduct feasibility studies, cost‑benefit analyses, and risk assessments for automation projects.
- Program and configure PLCs, motion controllers, and vision systems to ensure seamless integration.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to optimize system performance.
- Lead on‑site installation, commissioning, and validation of robotic solutions.
- Provide technical training and support to client personnel and internal service teams.
- Maintain detailed documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and compliance records.
- Stay abreast of emerging robotics technologies and industry standards to drive continuous improvement.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in robotics programming languages (e.g., RAPID, KRL, ROS).
- Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMI, and industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, PROFINET).
- Experience with CAD/CAM tools for mechanical design (SolidWorks, CATIA).
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and analytical mindset.
- Effective communication skills for client interaction and cross‑team collaboration.
- Project management experience, including scheduling and resource allocation.
- Commitment to safety standards and quality assurance processes.
Education
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related discipline. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Robotics Engineer, Siemens Certified Automation Professional) are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience designing, programming, and deploying industrial robotic systems in manufacturing environments. Prior experience with Siemens automation products (S7 PLCs, SINAMICS drives, or SIMATIC software) is strongly preferred.
Salary
