Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Carbon Offset Project Developer to join our growing team in Nairobi. In this role, you will lead the identification, design, and implementation of high-quality carbon offset projects across Kenya and the wider East African region. Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and assess new carbon offset project opportunities in forestry and land use.
  • Lead the feasibility studies and project design documents (PDDs) under VCS and Gold Standard.
  • Coordinate with local communities to establish fair benefit-sharing mechanisms.
  • Monitor project implementation and coordinate periodic verification audits.
  • Manage relationships with local government authorities to ensure compliance with national policies.

Required Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of voluntary carbon markets, including VCS and Gold Standard methodologies.
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering environmental projects.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, working with rural communities and corporate executives.
  • Proficiency in GIS and remote sensing tools for land-use analysis.
  • Fluency in English and Swahili, with outstanding communication skills.

Education

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or a closely related discipline. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.

Experience

A minimum of five years of professional experience in environmental project management, with at least three years specifically focused on carbon asset development or climate finance initiatives.
