Job Overview
The Program Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Specialist will lead the design, implementation, and reporting of robust M&E frameworks for UNDP Kenya’s portfolio of development programs. This role ensures that project outcomes are measured accurately, lessons are captured, and data-driven decisions enhance program effectiveness. The specialist will collaborate closely with program managers, partners, and government stakeholders to align monitoring activities with national development priorities and donor requirements. By delivering high‑quality evidence, the specialist supports UNDP’s mission to foster sustainable development and will be instrumental in showcasing UNDP Kenya’s impact to donors and the public.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine logical frameworks, indicators, and data collection tools for multiple development programs.
- Lead baseline assessments, mid‑term reviews, and final evaluations, ensuring methodological rigor and compliance with UNDP standards.
- Coordinate with field teams to collect, validate, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
- Prepare comprehensive M&E reports, dashboards, and policy briefs for senior management, donors, and government partners.
- Provide technical guidance and capacity‑building workshops to partners on M&E best practices.
- Support the integration of gender‑responsive and climate‑smart indicators into monitoring systems.
- Contribute to knowledge management by documenting lessons learned and scaling successful interventions.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Stata, R) and data visualization tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing clear reports for diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work in multi‑stakeholder environments and manage complex data collection processes.
- Knowledge of UNDP M&E guidelines, SDG indicators, and international development standards.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in Swahili is an advantage.
Education
The successful candidate must hold a Master’s degree in Development Studies, Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, or a closely related discipline. Advanced training or certifications in Monitoring & Evaluation, Impact Assessment, or Data Science are highly desirable.
Experience
At least five years of professional experience in designing and managing M&E systems for development projects, preferably within UN agencies, NGOs, or government ministries. Experience in Kenya’s development context and familiarity with local data sources will be considered a strong asset.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 180,000 to 250,000 per month, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary is paid monthly and includes statutory benefits as per Kenyan labor law.
