Job Overview
The Agricultural Drone Operations Manager will lead the planning, execution, and optimization of drone‑based data collection and analysis programs that support precision agriculture initiatives for John Deere Kenya’s clients. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive drone operation strategies aligned with client objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Manage day‑to‑day flight planning, mission execution, and data acquisition for diverse crop types and farm sizes.
- Coordinate with agronomists to translate aerial imagery into actionable agronomic recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) drone regulations and maintain all necessary permits.
- Lead a team of certified drone pilots, data scientists, and field technicians, providing mentorship and performance feedback.
- Monitor equipment maintenance, battery lifecycle, and software updates to guarantee operational reliability.
- Collaborate with product development to integrate drone data streams into John Deere’s farm management software.
- Prepare detailed reports, dashboards, and presentations for clients, highlighting yield improvements and cost savings.
- Identify new business opportunities and contribute to the growth of the precision agriculture service line.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in UAV flight planning software (e.g., DroneDeploy, Pix4D, DJI Ground Station).
- Strong understanding of remote sensing, GIS, and agronomic data interpretation.
- Excellent project management and stakeholder communication abilities.
- Ability to analyze large datasets and generate clear, actionable insights.
- Knowledge of KCAA drone regulations and safety protocols.

Education

Salary
