Job Overview

The Hydrogen Fuel Cell Engineer will join the Research & Development department to lead the design, testing, and integration of hydrogen fuel cell systems for upcoming vehicle platforms. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the conceptual design and detailed engineering of hydrogen fuel cell stacks, balance‑of‑plant components, and integration with vehicle powertrains.
  • Develop and execute test plans for performance, durability, thermal management, and safety of fuel cell prototypes.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to select and qualify hydrogen storage tanks, compressors, and related components.
  • Analyze test data using advanced simulation tools and recommend design improvements to meet efficiency and cost targets.
  • Prepare technical documentation, compliance reports, and patents in accordance with Toyota Group standards.
  • Support manufacturing engineers in scaling prototypes to pilot production, ensuring manufacturability and quality control.
  • Stay abreast of global trends in hydrogen technology, regulatory frameworks, and emerging standards to guide strategic decisions.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of fuel cell thermodynamics, electrochemistry, and system integration.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).

Education
