Job Overview

As a Digital Forensics Analyst, you will play a critical role in investigating cyber incidents, recovering digital evidence, and supporting legal and law enforcement agencies in Kenya. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, analytical thinking, and adherence to ethical standards. The role is based in Mombasa, with opportunities for regional travel to support investigations across coastal regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct digital forensic investigations on devices, networks, and cloud systems to uncover evidence of cybercrimes.
  • Analyze malware, ransomware, and phishing attacks to identify attack vectors and vulnerabilities.
  • Prepare detailed reports for legal proceedings, law enforcement, and corporate clients.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to develop incident response strategies.
  • Maintain compliance with international digital forensics standards (ISO/IEC 27037, 27038).

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in forensic tools like EnCase, FTK, and Cellebrite.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, and mobile operating systems.
  • Experience with network packet analysis (Wireshark, tcpdump).
  • Understanding of Kenyan cybersecurity laws and international data privacy regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting findings to non-technical stakeholders.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Forensic Science. Postgraduate qualifications in Digital Forensics are an advantage.

Experience

3-5 years in digital forensics, cybersecurity investigations, or related fields. Experience in East African legal and regulatory environments preferred.

Salary

220,000 – 320,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
