Job Overview
This role is part of Siemens’ initiative to establish Kenya as a regional hub for advanced manufacturing. The Smart Manufacturing Systems Engineer will design, implement, and optimize automated production systems using Industry 4.0 technologies. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to integrate IoT-enabled machinery, AI-driven analytics, and digital twin technologies across Kenya’s manufacturing sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement smart manufacturing systems using Siemens TIA Portal and Teamcenter software
- Integrate IoT sensors, AI algorithms, and cloud-based analytics into production lines
- Conduct feasibility studies for automation projects in Kenyan manufacturing facilities
- Train local engineers on digital manufacturing technologies and predictive maintenance systems
- Optimize production workflows using digital twin simulations and real-time data analytics
Required Skills
- Proficiency in industrial automation software (Siemens PLC, SCADA, and MES systems)
- Knowledge of IoT protocols (OPC UA, MQTT) and AI/ML for predictive maintenance
- Experience with digital twin development using Siemens Xcelerator platform
- Strong problem-solving skills for complex manufacturing system troubleshooting
- Fluency in English and Swahili for cross-departmental communication
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Automation. Postgraduate qualification in Digital Manufacturing or Industrial AI is an advantage.
Experience
3-5 years in manufacturing automation projects, with demonstrable experience in implementing Industry 4.0 solutions in African industrial environments.
Salary
120,000 – 180,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and technical expertise.
