Job Overview
The Renewable Energy Project Finance Analyst will support the structuring, evaluation, and monitoring of financing for KenGen’s renewable energy projects. Working closely with the Project Development, Legal, and Engineering teams, the analyst will conduct financial modeling, risk assessment, and stakeholder liaison to ensure projects are financially viable and aligned with strategic objectives. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed financial models for renewable energy projects, including cash flow forecasts, debt service coverage ratios, and sensitivity analyses.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments covering market, regulatory, construction, and operational risks.
- Prepare investment memoranda, term sheets, and presentation decks for internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate with lenders, equity partners, and government agencies to negotiate financing terms and secure funding commitments.
- Monitor project financial performance post‑financial close, ensuring compliance with covenants and reporting requirements.
- Support the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis for the Project Finance department.
- Collaborate with the legal team to review financing agreements and ensure alignment with Kenyan regulatory frameworks.
- Stay updated on market trends, policy changes, and financing mechanisms relevant to renewable energy in Kenya and the broader East African region.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling using Excel or specialized software.
- Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and project development cycles.
- Familiarity with Kenyan financial regulations, tax incentives, and power purchase agreements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in PowerPoint for creating compelling presentations.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CFA, CPA, or PMP are advantageous but not mandatory.
Experience
Applicants should have 3 to 5 years of experience in project finance, investment banking, or financial advisory, preferably within the renewable energy sector. Experience working with international financing institutions (e.g., World Bank, AfDB) is highly valued.
Salary
