Job Overview

The Environmental Compliance Officer will lead Kibo Mining’s efforts to ensure all mining activities comply with Kenyan environmental regulations, international best practices, and the company’s internal sustainability policies. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive environmental compliance programs aligned with Kenyan law and international standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and monitoring of air, water, and soil quality to identify potential non‑compliance issues.
• Prepare and submit accurate environmental reports, permits, and documentation to regulatory bodies such as the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA).
• Lead environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for new projects, expansions, and modifications, ensuring thorough stakeholder consultation.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and health & safety teams to integrate environmental controls into daily mining processes.
• Provide training and awareness sessions for staff on environmental policies, emergency response, and best practices.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of evolving environmental legislation, industry trends, and emerging technologies.
• Respond promptly to environmental incidents, conduct root‑cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
• Engage with local communities to address concerns, promote transparent communication, and support community‑based environmental initiatives.
• Prepare annual sustainability reports and contribute to Kibo Mining’s ESG disclosures for investors and partners.

Required Skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Kenyan environmental regulations, mining legislation, and international standards such as ISO 14001.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven approach to monitoring and reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting reports, permits, and stakeholder presentations.

Education

Salary
