Job Overview

The Construction Project Controls Engineer will join the Project Management Office (PMO) in Garissa, supporting large‑scale construction initiatives that enhance regional connectivity and economic development. Reporting to the Senior Project Controls Manager, the role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining robust cost, schedule, and performance monitoring systems. The engineer will collaborate closely with project managers, site engineers, finance teams, and external consultants to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed cost estimates, budgets, and cash flow forecasts for assigned projects.
• Create and update project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project, ensuring alignment with contractual milestones.
• Monitor project performance against baseline plans, identify variances, and provide corrective action recommendations.
• Prepare regular progress reports, earned value analyses, and financial dashboards for senior management and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with procurement and contracts teams to track change orders, variations, and claim assessments.
• Implement risk management processes, including risk registers and mitigation strategies.
• Support the integration of BIM and digital twins for enhanced data visibility and decision‑making.
• Ensure compliance with Lafarge Kenya’s internal controls, health and safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in project control software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, and cost management tools.
• Strong analytical abilities with experience in earned value management (EVM) and cost forecasting.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting complex data to diverse audiences.
• Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple priorities.
• Knowledge of Kenyan construction codes, standards, and procurement regulations.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, macros, and data visualisation.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field is required. Professional certifications such as PMP, PMI‑ACP, or a Certified Cost Engineer (CCE) designation are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in project controls within the construction or infrastructure sector. Experience on large‑scale public‑private partnership (PPP) projects, road or building construction, and exposure to international best practices will be valued.

Salary
