Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic Water Resource Management Specialist to lead projects focused on water supply optimization, sanitation system development, and environmental conservation. This role will be based in Nyeri and will involve collaboration with stakeholders to design, implement, and monitor water infrastructure initiatives. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with a passion for improving public health and ecological sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct feasibility studies for new water and sanitation projects in Nyeri and surrounding regions.
- Coordinate with local communities, government agencies, and NGOs to identify water resource challenges and solutions.
- Design and oversee the implementation of water harvesting, purification, and distribution systems.
- Monitor water quality and ensure compliance with national and international safety standards.
- Prepare technical reports, project proposals, and budget forecasts for stakeholders.
- Lead training programs for local technicians and community members on water system maintenance.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in water resource planning, engineering, or environmental management.
- Strong analytical skills for assessing water usage patterns and environmental impact.
- Proficiency in GIS mapping and hydrological modeling software.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Knowledge of Kenyan water policy and regulatory frameworks.
- Ability to work in remote field locations and adapt to diverse cultural contexts.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Water Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
- Postgraduate qualification in Water Resource Management is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years in water and sanitation project management.
- Experience in Kenya’s water sector or similar African contexts preferred.
Salary
KES 80,000 – KES 120,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
