Job Overview
EcoPost Kenya seeks a dynamic Waste Management and Energy Conversion Specialist to lead initiatives that convert organic waste into renewable energy. This role involves designing, implementing, and monitoring waste-to-energy projects in Nakuru and surrounding regions. The ideal candidate will bridge technical expertise with community engagement to drive sustainable environmental impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage waste-to-energy projects, including biogas and composting systems.
- Conduct feasibility studies for new waste conversion technologies and projects.
- Collaborate with local communities, municipalities, and NGOs to identify waste management challenges and solutions.
- Monitor environmental impact and ensure compliance with national and international sustainability standards.
- Train community members on waste segregation, composting, and energy conversion practices.
- Prepare project reports, budgets, and proposals for funding opportunities.
Required Skills
- Expertise in waste management systems and renewable energy technologies.
- Strong project management and stakeholder coordination abilities.
- Knowledge of environmental impact assessment and sustainability frameworks.
- Excellent data analysis and reporting skills.
- Fluency in Swahili and English for community engagement.
- Experience with GIS or mapping tools for project planning.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering or Sustainable Development preferred.
Experience
- 3-5 years in waste management, renewable energy, or environmental project implementation.
- Proven track record in managing community-based sustainability initiatives.
Salary
150,000 – 250,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience.
