Job Overview
This role involves designing next-generation smart textiles integrated with sensor technology, phase-change materials, and adaptive fibers. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop prototypes, conduct material testing, and ensure compliance with international safety standards. The position is based in Nanyuki, Kenya, at DuPont’s state-of-the-art R&D facility focused on climate-responsive fabric innovations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and prototype smart textile materials with temperature regulation, moisture management, or biometric monitoring capabilities
- Conduct laboratory testing to evaluate material durability, conductivity, and performance under stress
- Collaborate with software engineers to integrate IoT-enabled textile systems
- Develop technical specifications for mass production of smart fabric solutions
- Stay updated on global trends in wearable technology and textile innovation
Required Skills
- Proficiency in CAD software for textile design
- Experience with material characterization techniques (SEM, FTIR, etc.)
- Knowledge of smart textile manufacturing processes
- Excellent problem-solving abilities in R&D environments

Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Textile Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent
- Master’s Degree preferred but not required
Experience
- 3-5 years in textile R&D or advanced materials development
- Previous work with smart fabric technologies strongly preferred
Salary
250,000 – 400,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Working Environment
