Job Overview
The Mining Operations Analyst will support the planning, monitoring, and optimization of daily mining activities at the Kakamega site. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the analyst will use data‑driven insights to improve production efficiency, reduce operational costs, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards. This position plays a critical role in translating complex operational data into actionable recommendations that enhance overall mine performance. Candidates will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including engineering, geology, and health & safety, to deliver results that align with corporate objectives.

Key Responsibilities
- Collect, validate, and analyze production data from drilling, blasting, and haulage operations.
- Develop and maintain dashboards that track key performance indicators such as ore grade, tonnage, equipment utilization, and downtime.
- Identify trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvement and present findings to senior management.
- Collaborate with the geology team to integrate ore body models with operational plans.
- Support the preparation of weekly and monthly operational reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in the evaluation of new mining technologies and software tools to enhance data accuracy and decision‑making.
- Ensure all analytical activities comply with AngloGold Ashanti’s safety, health, and environmental policies.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Strong understanding of mining processes, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for presenting complex data to non‑technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with mine planning software (e.g., Vulcan, Surpac) is an advantage.
Education
The successful candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Mineral Processing, or a closely related discipline. Advanced certifications in data analytics or project management are considered a plus.
Experience
Applicants should have 3 to 5 years of experience in mining operations, data analysis, or a related field within the mining industry. Experience with large‑scale open‑pit or underground mining environments in Kenya or other African countries is highly desirable.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 1,500,000 to SSP 2,500,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the compensation package.
