Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Forestry Specialist to join our team in Kisumu, Kenya. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing digital solutions to support our forestry and conservation efforts. This will include designing and implementing digital tools and platforms to monitor and manage forest health, as well as developing and implementing data analytics and visualization techniques to inform conservation decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement digital tools and platforms to support forestry and conservation efforts
- Develop and implement data analytics and visualization techniques to inform conservation decisions
- Collaborate with local communities, governments, and businesses to develop and implement sustainable solutions to environmental challenges
- Conduct research and analysis to identify opportunities for digital innovation in forestry and conservation
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and private sector companies
Required Skills:
- Strong technical skills in digital tool development and data analytics
- Experience working with digital platforms and tools, including GIS and remote sensing technologies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to think creatively and outside the box
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili, with ability to communicate effectively in both languages
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or related field
Experience: 5-7 years of experience in digital tool development and data analytics, with a focus on forestry and conservation
Salary: 80,000 – 120,000 SSP per annum
