Job Overview

As a Climate Resilience Project Manager, you will lead initiatives to enhance climate adaptation strategies in Kisii County. This role involves designing, implementing, and monitoring projects that reduce vulnerability to climate change while promoting sustainable livelihoods. You will collaborate with local stakeholders, government agencies, and international partners to ensure measurable impact in environmental and community resilience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute climate resilience projects aligned with UNDP’s global sustainability goals
  • Conduct needs assessments and baseline studies for climate-vulnerable communities
  • Coordinate with local governments, NGOs, and community leaders to implement adaptation strategies
  • Monitor and evaluate project outcomes using climate impact metrics
  • Prepare reports for donors, stakeholders, and the UNDP global network
  • Provide technical guidance on climate-smart agriculture and water management

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in climate adaptation or environmental project management
  • Strong understanding of Kenya’s climate challenges and regional development priorities
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and cross-cultural communication skills
  • Proficiency in GIS mapping or climate modeling software (preferred)
  • Ability to analyze climate data and produce actionable insights

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Climate Studies, Geography, or related field
  • Master’s Degree in Climate Change or Sustainable Development (preferred)

Experience

  • 3-5 years in climate resilience, environmental management, or sustainable development projects
  • Experience working in rural Kenyan communities (required)

Salary

250,000 – 350,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
