Job Overview
The Credit Risk Analyst will play a pivotal role in assessing the creditworthiness of loan applicants, monitoring portfolio performance and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive credit assessments for corporate and SME loan applications, including financial statement analysis, cash flow modelling and industry benchmarking.
- Prepare detailed credit proposals and risk ratings in line with Standard Chartered’s credit policies and local regulatory requirements.
- Monitor existing loan portfolios, identify early warning signs of credit deterioration and recommend remedial actions.
- Collaborate with relationship managers, product specialists and senior risk officers to structure appropriate financing solutions.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date credit files in the bank’s risk management system.
- Assist in the development and refinement of credit risk models, stress‑testing scenarios and risk reporting dashboards.
- Stay informed about macro‑economic trends, sector developments and regulatory changes affecting credit risk in Kenya.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in Excel, financial modelling and statistical analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities to present complex risk assessments clearly.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining high quality standards.
- Solid understanding of banking regulations, Basel III guidelines and local credit risk frameworks.
- Team‑player mindset with the capacity to collaborate across functions and influence decision‑making.
- Proficiency in credit risk software platforms (e.g., Moody’s Analytics, SAS, or equivalent) is an advantage.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM or equivalent are highly desirable and demonstrate a commitment to excellence in risk management.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in credit analysis, risk assessment or loan underwriting within a reputable bank or financial institution. Experience in the Kenyan market, particularly with SME and agricultural financing, will be considered a strong asset.
Salary
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary ranging from SSP 120,000 to SSP 180,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the remuneration package.
